Halloween 10/31/07

At first, my daughter did not want to go near those ghost decorations. I had to go touch them myself to show her they are not ghost but only decorations. Finally, she willing to stood a little bit closer to them. Here is the picture.P.S. There was a magnitude 5.6 earthquake hit when we were watching channel 7 Charles Brown Peanut cartoon last night. All of a sudden, we felt a shake in the house. My daughter asked me, “What is it?”. I said,” Don’t worry . It’s a earthquake.” Nothing fell down. Only the tv set was staking on the shelf. We’re going to move that shelf to somewhere else today definitely .

I was passing by the City Hall last week. There was a gathering in front of it. These things happen very offer in this country. Everybody has something to fight for. That day was a bun of Blacks who live in San Francisco. They wanted more affordable housing, medical, jobs so on so on. The person who gave speech was well dress .I think he must be the leader. I got close to take some pictures, despite of those officers who were chatting at aside.

There is a Chinese Gong Fu gym in our neighborhood. Many American would come to attend course for fitness. It’s not cheap but they still have a lot of students. It means American accept Chinese Gong Fu. They even put up a sign of Jet Li’s movie poster to attract more business. P.S. I know a lot of you guys care about the situation in Southern California. The latest news is The Qualcomm stadium need to be clear. People were being told to leave. Some of them are Asian as well. Everybody go home with a tried body. The house stand there or not, depend on someone up there.

Red sky 10/25/07

I was cooking dinner in the kitchen yesterday evening. By chance I took a look outside the window. There was all orange color in the sky. I thought that must be a storm coming. I did not pay attention to it. Later on after watched the news, I found out that was smoke came from southern California. There were 1500 homes destroyed. I was hoping the homeowners better have insurance. So they can rebuild. But if they don't, they still can get the government aid after President Bush announced the area was the disaster area. This's at least it’s a beginning for them.

Wildfires 10/24/07

This is the biggest scale of evacuation since the civil war. All the motels and hotels were full. People camped on the National Parks. And when the camp sites became too crowded. The park rangers had to use lottery to decide who could stay for another night. When some of the evacuees flee by plane, all they saw from the air was the smoke. Freeways were pack with cars. Pretty much like the scene during Katrina. I have a blog pal who lives in LA. She said she’s got a lot of blog pals sending regards to her. She’s safe right now, but we need to pray for those who still in danger.

Most of the kids do not care about skin color of their playmates. They would play together and chase each other on the playground. And it dose not bother them at all. But as time goes on, they would get affect by the people around them, and drift apart from the old pals. Some of them would forget the old play pals forever. Isn’t it sad? Don’t worry. The girl you see in this picture, her name is Melissa. Her mother is a very nice person. I believe their friendship will last forever.

Potato Famine

Potato is our staple . Look at that price. I could not resist to buy many many bags. By the way, that remind me the Patato Famine in 1845-1851 in Ireland. The crops was destroyed by water mold, a lot of people starved to dead. A wave of Irish immigrant arrived to America. The country was not very prosperous at that time. They could not find job . Local people began to look down on them, it was not a easy time for new Irish immigrants.
