Dessert bar

I used to hang out in a dessert bar when I was young back in Hong Kong, loved their fresh cane juice, sweet tofu and cold turtle soup. Who’s know? I found the dessert bar here in San Francisco again. This time, they did not have those good old day things. But they have western desserts and wi-fi.

Childhood

I found surprises about Fanny everyday, such as , first time call me “ma”, I had to respond to her right a way to let her know that she said it right. And “go, cookie, door” are her favorite words. That’s how kids learn, I think. This day I found her enjoy the view upside down. That’s only kid would do it.

Laundromat

There are two ways to do laundry in this country. First, you wash it with your own washing machine in your home. Second, go to the laundromat and do it yourself. It’s cost US$5--$20. Depend on how much laundry you need to wash and dry. Self helping has an advantage which is no need to let people touch your underware…ha,ha.

American must have cranberry sauce as side dish when they eat turkey. Just like Hong Kong people must have mash ginger when they eat steam chicken.

Jenny Tseng The Hong Kong Singer

Jenny Yan is the Hong Kong famous singer, going to have a concert in Reno this Thanksgiving Day. She’ll perform along with two artists who are from China and Taiwan. Talking about Jenny Yan, I’ve met her at DMV several months ago. My daughter and I were hanging around at the parking lot of the DMV that day. All of a sudden, there was a Japanese sedan drove up to us. Here was Miss Yan came out from the car. Oh wow, I could not believe my eyes. Obviously she noticed us too. I greeted her and she smile back and then went inside the building. We had business to do in the DMV too. I saw her sat and waited just like everybody else. I did not want to bother her so I watched her leave with her friend later.

The time was 12:30pm. Today was the first time we came to this library. It’s pretty quiet course is week day. There were some empty seats for internet service. So my daughter and I both had a computer to use. She played the Barney game and I got to up date the blog. One hour later when we walked out the door. We saw bun of school kids hanging outside. I guess it’s their test day. That why they left school early. Next time I will ask them.

Foggy day

Day light saving time has begun. “Fall behind” that means everyone set the clock one hour behind in the autumn. There were 15 hours behind Hong Kong time. Now are 16. The sky turns dark by 4pm. And it’s foggy too. It’s really depressing. Watch out for the “winter blue” which is very common here in the United State. How do you prevent that happen? Spent more time with people you like or do things you like. Such as play with your children, pets, see your friends (the ones who are positive), watch a comedy or even wash your car (detailedly).

An open letter to our Mayor

Mr. Mayor Newsom:
I knew by the time you read this letter. You properly won the election already. Congratulation! As I mentioned it before, the parking fee costs us arms and legs at down town. We take Muni buses to down town very often. But obviously this system is not working very well. There are some routes have too few buses for too many passengers. And on the other hand, some routes are opposite. Let’s take #38 bus as an example (This picture was took at Union Square by2:56pm 10/09/07). The buses were full during most of the day on both directions. People wait at the bus stop for long period of time. And the eastbound #31 bus has a lot of empty seats before get into the down town area during the off peak hour. Mr. Mayor, please find some smart persons to manage Muni. And help the crowd who are waiting at the bus stop everyday.

My daughter enjoy go for walk with me. That day we went to a library, dim sum place and a market. We found the chocolate drink mix was on sale. Wanna grab two cans right a way but did not have enough cash. So we went to a bank’s ATM that we did not have bank account with. The ATM fee was $3. Wait a minute. We will save $4 by buying that drink but pay $3 to the bank? No way. I pushed the cancel key in no time. Ha,ha…

Once in a year trick or treating is over. We’ve got 20 pounds of candy and 8 pound of fruit. That right, fruit! Some of the Chinese neighbors did not have candy in home. They gave out fruit instead. We were glad to accept any gifts. My daughters’ costume were a blue wig and a baby suit.
